Manual Handling (inanimate loads) training

An introduction to Manual Handling

All of our courses have been developed for employees with manual handling tasks as part of their day-to-day role. The training delivery will be tailored to the specific activities and equipment used.

Poor manual handling is one of the top reasons for employees missing work due to injuries. The training focuses on ensuring that employees have the information to help protect themselves from injury.

Topics covered:

  • Correct lifting methods
  • Basic anatomy of the spine
  • Manual handling risk assessment
  • Preventing injury

We have a number of training course options for Manual Handling, depending on the needs of the particular workplace and the type of accreditation. The course includes practical exercises and demonstrations and requires an element of physical activity. We may ask for copies of workplace manual handling risk assessments, if available, for established businesses.

Course duration options

Half day (3 hours) to cover all basic elements. Full day (5-6 hours) with enhanced practical activities, in-line with the All Wales Passport (Modules A + B). Full day accredited (see the Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling).
